A wireless GPS tracker's battery life depends mainly on how often it reports. A daily ping can last 1–3 years; a 30-second interval may last only weeks. Motion-wake mode (sleep until moved) dramatically extends life for assets that sit still. Bigger batteries and efficient 4G/LTE-M radios also help. Choose the report plan to match how often you actually need to know location.
Report Interval Is Everything
Halving the interval roughly halves battery life. For trailers or containers checked daily, a 1–24h interval with motion-wake gives the longest life.
Motion-Wake and Sleep
Trackers that sleep until movement save the most power. They still alert on theft (because moving triggers a ping) while lasting years when parked.
