Why Does a GPS Tracker Have No GPS Signal?

When a tracker is "online" (has network) but shows no position or a very old fix, the GNSS antenna cannot see satellites. This is almost always physical: the antenna is under metal, the vehicle is parked in a basement or container, the antenna cable is loose, or the module needs a cold start. Move the unit to open sky and check the antenna.

Blocked or Shielded Antenna

Metal roofs, tinted reflective glass, and fully enclosed metal boxes block GNSS. Keep the antenna near a window or use an external magnetic antenna placed on the roof.

Loose or Wrong Antenna Cable

Check the GNSS antenna connector is seated and not swapped with the cellular antenna. A cold start in open sky can take a few minutes for the first fix.
