Why Is My GPS Tracker Offline?

A GPS tracker shows "offline" when the server has not received a position for a while. The most common causes are loss of power (battery disconnected or drained), no cellular data (wrong APN, no SIM balance, no roaming), blocked GPS signal (parked underground or in a metal box), or the device hanging. Work through power → network → GPS → reboot to recover it.

1. Check Power

For hardwired units, confirm the red (constant +) and black (ground) are still connected and fused. For wireless units, the battery may be drained — charge or replace it.

2. Check Network and APN

No GPRS usually means wrong APN, empty SIM data, or roaming off. Set the correct APN (see our APN guide) and ensure the SIM has an active data plan.

3. Check GPS Signal

If the device is online but not updating position, it may have no sky view. Move it outdoors or to a window; check the antenna connection.

4. Reboot

Send a reboot/reset SMS or power-cycle the device. If it stays offline, note the model and IMEI and contact technical support with a screenshot of the status LED.
